Well, thank you for the astute observation! The plastic wrap is there as the car was being detailed at the dealer, and is either (i) to keep the wax out of the little corners, or (ii) to protect the badging/lettering during the 1,200 mile journey to where I live...

I'm listening - where should I potentially mount it?

You can put it in the middle of the dash right up to the windshield. That's where mine was.

Center forward of the dash is the factory location. Not an easy place to work, unless the windshield is removed. Otherwise, bend things, lose screws in the A/C system, and curse.

I installed traffic-pro single DIN Nav in my 02 C4S and the antenna will mount under the plastic enclosure on the dash center where the light sensor and alrm LED are located. PM me and I will send you the insructions I used for the installation. In your case, they have actually drilled a hole in the area for the antenna to route thru the engine compartment, so you might want to decide what your preference is as far locatiion if there is drilled hole ;-(

GoodLuck with the new car!! The C4S has been a great car for me!!

That is a GPS unit. We put them on big rigs so the trucking company can find the location of the truck at any time. Somone Sir, is watching you.
Accurate to with in a 3 meters.

Wife maybe?

Yep yep, there is a DIY PCM2 retrofit thread on renntech.org. It took me a very lazy 3 hours to retrofit the PCM2. Routing the gps antenna to that location took me only 30 min.

My GPS antenna is under the plastic cowl @ front windshield. Along with the Sirius antenna. Easy to route to the head unit and invisible. May want to look into it. Nice flat mounting spot easily accessible from under the front bonnet. Remove the plastic battery covers and you'll see. Just behind and to the passenger side of the battery.
