Default autocross fun

i just participated in my first autocross the other day...unbelievable fun. i've owned three 911's over the years and have been a member of the porsche club all this time, and can't believe it's taken me this long to really enjoy the car the way it was intended. if you're new to the porsche world or just haven't gone to any driver ed events, just do it...it's a blast. never heard so many folks laughing and outright squealing. grown men. awesome.

Shopping weekends for the ladies and party time for older kids. Glad you had a really fun time. I'm real surprised Ed didn't comments about a certain chariteristic about a post that means it never happened. I wouldn't mind seeing some pictures. Got any?

Tires yes, brakes no especially if you compare to DE's. AutoX is a great place to learn car control and vehicle dynamics in a safe environment.

Glad you liked it.

I've been considering an autox. I've done about 25 days worth of DEs over the past few years.

Will the autox seem boring compared to Mid Ohio? I guess there is one way to find out...

Autocross is a different style of racing. With DEs, you're driving fast, but conservatively within the limits of your car. Autocross is all about driving at or slightly over the limits of your car, which is a lot of fun in and of itself. It's cheap enough, no reason not to try

One challenge to AX, vs DE, is you need to learn the course "NOW".. not in 2 laps.. or 10 laps.. or 10 DE days.. but NOW. Anyone can drive a course that doesn't change and get good at it. Not many can "master" a new course in 3-4 runs.. and then do it again the next time.. and the next..

What will seem "boring" is sitting around all day for 3-6 minutes of driving time. However, its cheap, it can be an adrenaline rush and its competitive.

Glad to hear the OP enjoyed their AX adventure. I love to do BOTH DE and AX.. AX keeps you sharper.. DE keeps you smoother.

It might help your times to put some booze in the back so it will be like some of your old high school weekend liquer runs. Well at least what ever amount you prefer to be happy was on the fun autoX cruise with you as you drink it during the weeks till your next autoX.

I'm looking forward to my 1st autoX. Where can I rent a helmet for the day? I would consider buying if I take to it.

Most clubs have loaner helmets. If they don't, you can usually borrow one from another driver.
