Default Tire stripped off on Montreal Highway

So as I was driving last night I heard a weird noise all off a sudden, stopped right away and it ended up being the inner part of the driver side rear tire coming apart at about 125km/h. I peeled some of the long tire strip off by pulling it and cotinued to drive slowly to the hotel while its flapping away in the back. Drove very slow. Now I'm about to tackle my first Porsche spare tire change. Then drive on it back to Ottawa lol. sorry for mistakes I am on a BB

Default Hope everything turns out okay for you.

I missed your calls.

I had a few problems at work to fix. Glad to hear you picked up the wheel and tire.

I'll post pics tomorrow!!

Man, Louis, you saved me a heck of a lot of trouble!!

I dropped the wheel off beside your house early in the morning. I couldn't possibly imagine driving back to Ottawa on a tiny little spare!

I'll give you a shout tomorrow via phone!

Here are two pics of the tire damage.

Ya they were worn, but at no point should they have stripped off like a semi truck....

I was going to replace them next week, but My order to TireRack will be made this morning!

Initially when it happened, it sounded similar to the IMS noise, the rubber strip was just flapping iinside the wheel well, i quickly focused on where I should pull over and shut my engine off asap. That's when I noticed the noise was still present and figured out it was something tire related.

I never lost tire pressure even though this happened... I wish I had a knife with me to have cut the loose strips closer to the tire, but i ripped it off with my hand as best as possible. Drove about 10km/h with it still flapping back to the hotel and dealt with it in the morning.

I called a member from this board and he pulled through with a very helpful act. Somehow miraclulously he had a extra rim/tire in his garage. So instead of me putting the spare on and picking it up, my uncle picked it up for me. Once in Ottawa (next day) I put my spare on and headed back to Montreal to return the rim/tire.

Must of been a defect or I must of hit something very very sharp, but I didn't see anything on the road, nor was I speeding.

had almost the same thing with my E39, rear inner tire wear. did not notice until i was at an angle below the car. also thought i hit something on the road. looks like the inner side of the tire was below wear bar.

I knew they were worn out, but I couldn't even see metal cords or nothing so I knew they would still last for bit.

Like I said I didn't loose any air pressure at all, so I think the rim should be fine.

Just all that flapping in the wheel well at the time scared the S*** out of me! I really thought the engine went for some reason.

Anyways, just waiting on Damon from TireRack to reach work and set up my order.... Time difference from here to there I guess...

Wonder how long shipping will take as I refuse to drive the car with a Orange spare.
