Default Spacers question

Ok guys I have searched and was wondering how big of spacers can I run on the stock lug bolts? Also, where can I get new bolts?

If you use oem spacers smaller are 5mm and they come with longer bolts. If non oem and up to 3mm you can use your existing bolts no problem.

Hubcentric is relevant to how thick they are.

Thanks John! Would 5mm have to be hubcentric?

Porsche's 5mm spacer kit uses the original bolts. Anything thicker requires longer ones.

5mm spacers inlude bolts longer with different color colars (orange-red).

if you go aftermarket 5mm spacers buy the bolts
longer bolt part number 997 361 980 07

see attached pic for difference in bolts length

Note here it says "...you reuse your stock bolts."

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=POTE996WH

This was the same information I received when I installed my OE 5mm kit.

Bruce that kit from suncoast s not oem.
Oem Porsche kit has bolts included as per the picture i showed you.
I trust my eyes all this years not going to give up now.

John

Between you and me its kind of ok to use 5mm spacers without the bolts but not ideal. Workshop manual insists on the longer bolts.

IIRC the "standard" bolts are 45mm, so if you run spacers just add that thickness to 45mm and that should be your bolt length

Measure from the "flat" that aluminum washer mates to, to the end of the bolt

I am aware the link I sent you was not for OE spacers, hence my reference to OE spacers in the post. Today's Porsche 5mm kit for the 911/Boxster/Cayman does include bolts. However, when I bought mine for the 996, it did not. I trust my memory as much as you trust your eyes.
