Just shy of 52k miles and I change oil/filter @5k mi. I've only added a very small amount in between oil changes, but it seems every engine uses oil at varying amounts based on the input above.

At 70K miles, I burn about a half qt per 15K miles, which is also my oil change interval.

hmmmm.. I do have 2 leaks. I just looked. But none enough to drip just wet.

One is dripping from the drivers side tensioner but its not the tensioner.. Just where it is ending up... Maybe from the AOS?

the other is on the passenger side rear, coming from high on the engine and ending up almost dripping off the power steering pump?????? not sure if that is the pump or not. But still.. Its not dripping so I doubt they are my issues.

Essentially no oil consumption here. No smoke. 99,000km.

Here is a story of two Porsche 996 engines. I bought a '99C4 a couple of years ago. This 3.4 engine did not use any oil between changes. It ran great for about 10,000 km (6000 miles) and I never had to add oil. Then I had an IMS bearing/shaft failure. That was the end of this engine. I purchased a 2003 3.6 X51 engine (posted on this forum some time ago). This engine has a very healthy appetite for oil. Like one liter every 2000 km (OK, let's say one quart every 1200 miles). Not always, but I often get a fair bit of blue smoke on start-up.

I used Mobil 1 0w40 in both engines. I am not happy about the oil consumption with the "new" X51 engine. But this is within the acceptable norm according to Porsche. But I am not happy about it.

Maybe 1/2 qt or less between 10k-mile oil change. I'm at 97k miles now.
