they are held on by 2 sided tape. I have marked my wheels when one was coming lose before cleaning the old tape off then replacing it with no loss of balance.

track dudes cover them with a metalic aluminum type tape to keep them from flying off and takign out a window or costing a run for outta ballance

I have a nasty hole in my front fender liner from one flying off... haven't looked in the hole...kinda scared too.. sounded LOUD and bad....
