have anyone tried this for MK I's?:

I haven't tried the air vent clip-in type. I bought this one instead for my '99 996 Cab.:

I like it. Simple, well made, effective.
I keep mine on the passenger side floor. It's just a short reach beyond the shifter, which I find to be more convenient than on the driver's side.
