Default Fister D question

I'm about to order a set, but I have a couple of questions; has anyone gotten the coating for the mufflers? If so, what color did you choose? Is it worth the price?

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi, I have a set and they sound great. I've owned them for about 10 months now. At the time I ordered the color option was not available. I dont see the point, you cant see the mufflers. The mufflers do retain the factory protection. What is the cost of adding "bling" to them?

Default I just put a set on last week

I thought about coating them but you can't see them. I thought it was a waste. Great mod though, my car sounds great !! 275.00 shipped and 50.00 to send yours back for me it cost 325.00 total, great mod at a great price.

I did not get the coating but the purpose of the ceramic coating is to reduce radiated heat, the bling is secondary.

Mufflers do sound great!

I got them, not the coated ones, though. I would NOT own a 996 without this mod. It is relatively cheap, too!! Life's good.

Thanks for your input, guys. It looks like I'll be saving the $170 for something else. Ordering tomorrow!

Great affordable mod, and good service from Darin. Let him explain the ceramic coating to you.

$170 (plus a tiny bit) will get you a SSK

Marc will confirm the money = well spent

and who the hell cares what color your mufflers are? Unless that motor is spotless (like Orient Express)

I was wondering about the heat dissipation more than the color, but since it's been that way for 10 years, I guess it's not really an issue.

The ceramic coating does add a bling factor, but it is more function than form. It reduces the heat that the mufflers radiate, in your fenders and next to your engine, which is a good thing. The other thing is, the mufflers are media blasted and then ceramic coated, which makes the exterior like new again, which will add to their longevity. Some of the cores I get back are not the prettiest things in the world. I clean them up, but don't polish them out.
Is it necessary?...no. Is it functional?...yes. Is it worth it?....thats up to the individual.
I hope that helps.
