Talking My first Mod... :-)

Some things for my car arrived.....

and my first install...

I tried to put the sport seats in today.. but its a little more than I am up for at the moment. too many plugs and wires..... i read the DYI for the GT3 seat install, but I seem to have an extra harness going to some sort of computer and I didn't see an easy to get to plug. Anyone else have any experience in this arena?

Is that a Fiat 124 Spyder sharing a garage with your 996? Great cars - I had '73 that I rebuilt (thought that an engine rebuild is a proper rite of passing...)

Good choice on a first mod... But, are you planning on getting racing seats?? Otherwise I don't understand the point of a harness bar.

I pulled my stock memory seats out to get my rollbar in, however I didn't change to sport seats (I have Sparcos going in very soon). I'm gonna look for the instructions I used & I'll get back to you... You really, really need to get proper track seats though, otherwise there is 0 point in having a harness bar.

The extra Harness is the memory seat and mirror module (which is mounted on the bottom of the drivers seat near the front of the seat). The module goes with the original comfort seats and you will not need them with sport seats.

You may have to re-pin some of the plugs depending on the year of your car and the year of the donor car. I got my sport seats from an 04 GT3 and had to move them over a slot.

yes yes, lol, im aware that these seats are not able to be used with a harness, and that theoretically my harness bar is currently pointless. :-) But my family makes them, and I wanted to have it in there, plus I was able to install it myself, unlike all of the other parts I got, and I didn't want to get all this cool stuff and have it just sit in the garage. I do plan to get proper seats, but don't have the mula at the moment as I need to replace my DD. I understand some may think that's pointless... but it makes me happy, and that's what I bought the car for.. to smile every time I look at it/ drive it/ think about it. :-) now, about those seats... the sport seats are out of my dad's 99.. same car, same color... i see how to get the 1 harness unplugged, but the other bunch of wires running to the silver box with a circuit board does not appear to have a plug to disconnect..... I understand now that its for the memory seat/ mirror... but how to unplug them to free the seat?

FYI, I do believe that they still add some safety value... I firmly believes that the harness bar gave extra structural integrity to the car and saved my brother from certain harm during this wreck... granted this one mounts a little differently, but you get the point. ;-)

Whatever makes you happy is what counts!

Just as long as they are eye candy and NOT used with stock seats.
