Default Fabspeed CAI Update 2

Okay. If you remember or care, Joe from Fabspeed sent me a new CAI. This one fit up in about an hour and I have to say I like it. Throttle response is improved for sure. HP, I cant say and I am not going to dyno it. I have to say it jumps more with the depression of the accelerator. It looks great too.
I already had PSE so I will tell you about the sound. PSE is great but with this intake the note is more throaty with less of a sharp tinge. It's hard to explain. It sounds better IMO.
I made a video. Check it out. I live in a big city so I did what I could. My girlfriend was helpful. Thanks bonita www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHQz5BmC0oA

It took awhile but Fabspeed made things right. I will say as far as my experience, Fabspeed is about the customer. They didn't flinch to fix the situation.

Good for you! I'm glad they took care of you. I think it does sound a little louder and deeper. Nice B/A vid.

I am one of those who think that many of the companies that sell these are overstating HP gains. I speak up because I don't want guys to think they are going to get 15 HP from an air box mod. However, since you stated you weren't sure if you would get HP gains or not, it seems like you had limited expectations about such potential gains.

Seeing your Lapis Blue '04 in motion almost brought a tear to my eye for my departed Lapis Blue '04 C2.

BTW - we need pics of your "lovely assistant!"

Sounds good, but the evoms sounds better IMO.

I still think the design is retarded.

Good video!

that looks like one of the old evoms 1 units or pro something, about 10 years old, was sold by many performance shops that put their name on it. I have one in the garage................ is this a new product design by fabspeed?

I like this unit and wouldnt mind getting one, if it werent for the fact that I have a tip with the extra hose attached to the intake. This fabspeed tube has no extra spot to hook that extra hose up to.....the idea of just strappin a breather on the hose and letting it just kinda hang there doesnt feel right.

Fabspeed has a mod for the tip. You just need to tell them.
I have to say I think this air intake has merit. I am a first time Pcar owner, I admit. I am also a mechanical construction engineer by trade and have a good mind for how things work. I think it's a good design and driving it tells me it has much more throttle response. I realize the MAF only allows what is necessary but air consistency is important too.
HP? I wont say and I will not dyno it. With a unit like the Evoms, the air is coming in at restricted angles with much turbulence. The Fabspeed is sucking air unrestricted through a very less restrictive orifice. People say the heat? If you are driving in typical situations the heat of the engine is not going to be a factor. If you are in traffic who cares?
My opinion is that getting air closer to source with less turbulence straight to the throttle body is the way to go. Cheap plastic and restricted air flow into a triangle, Evoms, does not make sense when it comes to sucking air into the engine. That's my opinion and I would love to hear other opinions.
