Default Sold! Good Bye for now...

Traded in my 911 today...
...for those of you tracking price info, I was able to get $25k on the trade-in.
It was a 2003 911 (996) Targa, Manual with New Engine, clutch and window regulators...
...it'd be a nice buy for the next Porsche Nut...

Good Bye for now fellas...I'll lurk in from time to time...

Pete

what did you trade it in on?

how many miles on your car? and what condition?

did they give you $25k for your car off list price on the car you bought?

thanks for taking the time to answer these,

Nick

Pete,

Sorry the see the 996 go! I have been Porsche-less for almost two years and it is killing me. I certainly hope this was because you decided to do this and not because you had to do it for various reasons.

Good luck and please keep hanging around the 996 Forum. Hell, it they let me stay, they'll let anyone stay!

No need to leave, Pete.

Ask Tim. This is only a temporary situation.

I mean being without a 911, not being Tim. Being Tim appears to be a permanent condition. Who else would open the trunk on the Honda parked next to a row of 911s with the engine hatches open?

I am beginning to think that you are you are correct, it very well may be a permanent condition. I have been wishing for a "cure" for many years now, but apparently, that is not going to happen! However, I guess I wouldn't want it any other way.

If only I had been born rich instead of tall, smart, handsome, and humorous!

Oh boy, even I couldn't say that with the straight face! <Tim laughing AT himself>

OK...it was a 2003, 996 Targa, Seal Gray, Manual Tranny with 72,150 miles and I considered it to be in 'Good' shape (as defined by KBB....they take exception on the Excellent Rating). The paint was in great shape, recently (and often) waxed but it had 2 very small rock chips in the area around the hood crest. The front bumper had been taken off and re-sprayed within about 8 months. The inside conditions was indeed excellent (as far as I'm concerned). It had Full Leather and it all was well-maintained specially since I put SolarGard tints all around (including the windshield). Nothing more I hate than a car with a crack on the dashboard. It had a new Engine installed at 65750. They weren't even touched by that fact....new clutch and window regulators...they didn't really express any emotion either...anyway, it was a nice ride....and a keeper...

I got a bum nerve on my left foot that would get aggravated by 2 continous days of driving...not cool and therefore, I had to move on....my car was meant to stay with me forever AND be a Daily Driver...why else...

I've had it on Rennlist Classifieds (still there, with pics) for quite some time...started at $29k...now at $27k. I was hoping that someone would buy it who would appreciate and benefit from the car's condition (and new engine)...also tried Ebay...(no bids)...

One guy was interested from the Rennlist Ad, and came over....and he was very interested but couldn't move until June...I didn't want to make 3 more payments on top of having to get new tires, etc...I also wouldn't have felt right about racking up miles on it, while waiting for him...

Since the car needed new tires (of course), I did the numbers and took they 25...the tax base for my new car gets credited that amount, so I only paid sales taxes on the diference...something I hadn't considered but quite convenient, I may say...

So they took it with basically no questoins and make it a very painless process...
I now have a very nice 2007 E-Class, CPO with EVERYTHING to make my grief pass easy...my boy is 8 and getting quite big and would no longer take more than 15 minutes in the back of the 911...he has a bit more room now...

My new ride is quite sweet. But, it's all bittersweet as you guys may figure...I'll be back at some point later for sure...PDK, in my case will have to be the weapon of choice...

Good Luck fellas!

Pete

...and Yes, I'm still gonna lurk...

...Tim, great to hear about your new and BETTER news...Godspeed Dude!

....I'll post back if I find out what they listed it for....$29 - 30 something, I'm sure...

that was on trade - you can never be sure what they actually gave you because of "allowances" (car guys know what this is)

That said it had a brand new motor - was set to drive for the next 10 years.......when you cannot drive... you have to make sacrifices, thats a sad story IMO
