FVD Sports Cats Installation (pics and vid)
This DIY took 3hrs (includes a trip to hardware store).... an easy job.
Take a wheel off (I took the driver side off)....
Take the intake filter off and disconnect the O2 sensors, 2 sensors on each side now worry about miss-match.... they are color coded.
Unbolt the muffler/cat clamps...
Take the muffler bolts off (from the side you took the wheel off).
disconnect vacuum for PSE valve
drop the muffler
Unbolt the header/cat flange
drop the sensor wire from the engine compartment and pull off the cats
Relocate the sensor to the FVD cats.
Bought from Lowes.... 1.5x5/16 nuts and bolts (the bolts were attached to the OEM cats...
Install the FVD cats.... since one of the mufflers were removed, the install is much smoother (since your are installing 2 cats at once). Install the muffler and tighten it the its bracket. Do not tighten all the bolts on the cats/headers until all the bolts are in place.... Tighten ALL the bolts alternating each sides.
Here's a sound clip

I'm right now trying to decide on the FVD x-pipe or the Fabspeed x-pipe. Any reason you went with the FVD vs. Fabspeed? Also, I noticed you said at WOT it was louder, but is there a difference in just regular cruising speeds on the highway? I have a cab and I'm a little worried about just how much louder things are just cruising around in normal driving....

As for sound? do you have stock muffler?.... if so, you will hear an increase of exhaust note but not much.... When I have the PSE in quiet mode, its not bad at all with the windows down. Cruising or around town is very tolerable, it is the 4.5k+ rpm that will turn heads. At high way speed its the same.... normally you are under 4k rpm.... any higher rpm, thats when the exhaust starts to really wake up. When you get on it to pass someone it def gets louder towards WOT but at a steeper rate.
I love the sound..... its the same sound (or close to it) that is in those gt3 Rally videos. Personally, its perfect for a cab.

I love the sound it's fantastic! I wonder if there would be a change in sound with GHL mufflers....
I hope this will end up on my car soon.... What's your address again? ahem.

Redridge - I have Tubi mufflers and EVO headers/intake. The sounds right now is similar to how you described your setup with it being pretty tame when driving conservatively. Obviously want it to stay that way since the top is down alot!! After you drive around some more, would be interested in your thoughts on performance...did it make a difference or not? or is it more the sound?

Its hard to really say.... its gonna be louder, my gut sez 20% louder (if that makes any sense)..... But I dont think its an issue. Your foot controls how loud it is and at 3K rpm.... its not bad at all (with my windows down). As for performance.... it did make a diff on highway speeds (especially passing), but I have really no proof but my butt dyno.....
