Default Oil leak need advice

Hi, I'm new into Porsches, I bought last Dec. a 2002 C4S with 57K miles.

And I noticed oil on my garage floor underneath the car.

I took few pictures and I would need you konwledge and experience to found what is the problem with the car.

Thank you all

hello and welcome....

when you get time shoot us a couple shots of the car too

Anyhow, ya got quite a little leak there. any chance of a pic a little farther away so I can orientate the shots. also any on the side of the motor... thru the wheel wells... ect

a good start would be to clean up the area so you can look for fresh drips now that you know about where to look and know to look........

also a side note, the oil looks a bit dirty, when's the last change?

I agree...larger pics and do wipe off the areas so you'll be better able to pinpoint your leak(s).

Thank you Ivangene,

I will have the car lift to get better pics

the leak is located in the middle center of the engine.

I have been told that's the RMS.

I will post pics of the car also

OK here is the sad facts.

The oil is from the rear main seal or the IMS bearing. I have been told IMS oil is burnt black becasue of the way the oil gets stuck in the IMS tube and cooks till its black. RMS oil will be the same color as the oil on the dip stick. So if it is black burnt oil. STOP DRIVING THE CAR until you have it checked out. If it is the RMS. its yoru call to put up with it or spend the $$ to have it replaced.

Kyle,

Thank you,

I just been in my garage to check the oil on the dipstick and the color of it seems to be normal brownish not black or dirty .

The only way to get a good look is to drop the tranny and get the RMS / IMS inspected. that's about $500 right there unless you have good friends with some P-car knowledge, a lift and the right tools.

First task is simple. Clean things up under there then wait and watch for where the oil is coming from. Tool are rag and good soap like spray on superclean or possibly even a long bristled brush to get in the deep areas. Could even be the air oil seperator leaking down.

Bet $50 if you provided the pizza, beers and interest - you (or anyone else) could find a friend willing to help out.

I am not suggesting to "use" anyone, but with a genuine interest in trying, can get help if they are willing and have the time to spend

Couldn't agree more since Ed helped me with putting my tranny back in, the car is still running great.
