Hate to hear this . I too am really sorry for your situation. That guy will reap what he sowed, rest assured. I too bought mine on impulse, but it worked out for me.
I have to ask, did you not drive it first?

Sorry to hear about this, but buying a p-car without a PPI is asking for (expensive) trouble and it looks like that's what you got.

I feel bad for you, and I do recommend a PPI although even then they don't find everything.

The PPi on my car found 2 minor things, but once I got it home I found about 10 minor things. The seller had already told me some of the things so it wasn't a surprise but I'd have thought the PPI dealer would have noticed things like Brake Pad Sensors zip-tied up and a engine compartment light out, and clear bulbs in clear side marker lenses. Those are easy finds, but if they can miss easy stuff what else did they miss?

PPI mostly buys a sense of peace. In your case though a PPI from a good place may have saved a lot. The paperwork issue wouldn't have saved you, even buying from a dealer it probably would have a been an "as-is condition" sale.

If the car was wrecked a person with connections in the industry could get it fixed "under the table" and the carfax never be advised....

sometimes the low mile cars make me wonder how long they sat in the body shop

Definitely feel your pain. For what little it's worth, on the three 911s I've bought [86, 89, 99], I had a PPI done on only the 89 and that one needed major engine work done shortly after purchase. Go figure. . .

Wow, that sucks (although it was an entertaining read!).
Yeah, test drive and PPI would help. (THANKS HINDSIGHT CAPTAIN OBVIOUS)
PPI is much more valuable than what your PP thinks!
That said, you probably don't have much/any recourse whatsoever. Let's say he DID tell you it had all sorts of problems, you buy it anyway thinking you can fix it, then change your mind and try to sue him for not "disclosing" or simply buyers remorse.
Good luck, get her fixed or part her out I guess...

No affiliation, but it looks like this guy has two 3.4 litre engines available.

That does suck!

The 3.4l M96 in CO is available for $4,650 as it sits (needs an exhaust lifter), $5k ready to install, or about $6k installed (assuming buyer provides/pays for any additional parts needed). Any additional work desired before re-assembly available at reasonable cost.

Thanks for the mention,

Joe
owner of said 3.4l M96 spare motor

Not to beat a dead horse but it sounds like a very basic PPI done by someone with foreign or domestic car experience (not even Porsche experience) would have been able to determine that this car "wasn't right".

We all get excited about the purchase of a car, especially a Porsche but not doing you do dilegnce, you could have taken the $28k to Vegas and put it on black, or red, or what the hell, Green!

Sorry about yout situation though.

Sorry about your problems.... you could've bought my 2002 for $25,000, so I guess I'm not asking crazy money!

So what are the mechanics saying? Sounds ike something the ECU doesn't track but senses with the misfire side of things. If one side is misfiring then sure enough with one side screwing up things are going to be shaky especially if firing advanced while the valves are still set for lower rpms. Its a simple problem just you don't have the answer yet.

This is terrible. I don't know about you, but I had never heard of a PPI until AFTER I purchased my first P-car and started hanging out around here. Luckily, while I did not PPI, I did have a CPO warranty that covered a few things.
