Even if you do decide to take it to your dealer. I would first give it a try, this way you can get more familiar with your car and compare your notes vs. the tech

I also use the Porsche form and document it, staple receipts and pics.

Thanks for all of the replys. So far about 50% of you DIY which is the way I am leaning at this point. Only 16% take your car to the Stealer for this service. That explains why I keep getting love letters from my dealer to take it to them for the service. Gotta love it.

Alex, I like this idea.

FWIW, I get all my parts from the dealer. I'd just rather (and enjoy) doing the work myself.

Just another data point:

My 45k service at the dealer was ~$75, and that was with some programming. That's less than an oil & filter change!

I basically asked them not to change any of the fluids or filters since I had done it all myself. Its very worth it.

Wow, that was a great deal. I wish I lived near you.

My local dealer charges over $100 an hour for a Porsche tech and I just assumed that they would hit me up for about 1 1/2 - 2 hours for all of the inspections plus any parts that they deemed need replacing.

[QUOTE=DreamCarrera;7170537]My car will reach the 45,000 mile mark within the next couple of weeks and I’d like to get some opinions on my maintenance options. I have a 2000 C2 and everything is in excellent working order. I do the basic maintenance on the car myself such as oil changes etc. I have my state inspection done every year at the local P dealer....

The Minor service is an easy DIY call.
But Beware the Major @ 60K - just cost me $1200 at the dealer...but IMO it was worth it for the peace of mind obtained from a periodic pro-visit for my daily driver. (BTW - after that service ID'd the dreaded coolant tank leak, I replaced it myself with the help of Rennlist DIYers and saved hundred$ off the quoted repair price!)

I get all service done at an indy.

That was exactly my thought.

By the time my dealer puts in the paper floor mat and pulls the car into the garage I'll already be $100+ in the hole.

As far as the DIY job goes, it will have to wait a while as it's about 22 degrees here with 50 MPH wind. I swear I can feel the wind in my garage even with the doors closed. LOL

Can anyone recommend a good garage heater?

I just picked this up over the weekend which works great in my 2-car garage:

http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053

I originally was going to go with the propane route however, the propane unit was an outdoor use only and being that I wanted something for indoors (camping, in case electricity goes off, etc..) as well. I went the kerosene route. The kerosene unit is good up to 23K BTU where as the propane unit is good up to 80K BTU. However, safety of my family being first I purchased the kerosene unit which like i said, heats up my garage perfectly.

Propane unit for reference:
