Kent
pls do a search on the topic "buying guide" on this forum.
be patient and careful with your search for a used car.

remember - used porsches can be cheap to buy, but VERY expensive to own which is why you don't see them everywhere.

that warning light means the rear spoiler has malfunctioned. And no, without proper diagnostic it is not possible to know what the problem is, and how to fix it.

also I would not recommend you buy a car without a pre purchase inspection. Please read buying guide on this forum and good luck.

The spoiler light stays on until the car is driven away. Not sure about the other light since it might not be a USA light cluster.

This light warns you that you are about to spend a lot of money unless you research your purchase. Please follow everyone's advice and spend a lot of time researching before your purchase.

Good luck with your search.

Our '00 Boxster (986) does that periodically; seems to be normal. I think the car occasionally performs some self-diagnosis. Same thing occasionally with the TC (Traction Control) light; it lights up periodically when the car is started, but then disappears when the car is underway.

Do both lights go off when the car drives away? Is the top one possibly warning light for the engine cover? AFAIK, the 986 does NOT have a warning light for either the front or rear trunk lids being unlatched. Not sure if the 996 does.

unfortunately it appears Kent is being sold a car via the internet with pictures of things shuttling back and forth...

To somewhat answer your questions:

The light with the spoiler is normal, and should go out when you start moving as stated earlier.

I have no clue about the light above it.

It is idling high. I think the manual says it should idle at 800 RPM the dash below the 1K. Don't know why.

I'm sure you know about researching the forum and PPI and just wanted a quick opinion from this forum...I do the same sometimes...as a matter of fact I'm going to do that after this post

When in doubt move on. There are a lot of 996s out there.

That idle is the cold-start idle rpm (1200), it was just turned on.

And seriously is there a way for someone to fix the grammar in the subject line? It's driving me crazy.

The one light is the "Install GT2 wing immediatly"
The other points to the motor for new owners

He used the exact same subject line at 6speed. I think he pays by the word.

Feel better now?

Clearly English is not the OP's first language so how about a little tolerance?
