Default Can a CDR-23 radio be installed anywhere?

From my just sold 2004 996 I have an almost new CDR-23 radio left over (the car had an aftermarket Becker Traffic Pro installed).

Silly question: can this CDR-23 be installed in any car? Can I sell this with confidence?

The manual says that only an autorized dealer can do the change. A new radio needs to be registered in the car's electronics and only a certified Porsche dealer can do this.

Should I have a Security Code (PIN) for this radio (I don't) or is this done from the car's electronic?

In Ebay acutions some sellers write: '... after installation the radio needs to be activated through a Porsche dealer...'

Is it that easy? No code needed?

It would be a pity if the radio would be thrown away....

The CDR-23 will need to be "sync'ed" with the MOST system in the new car. A PST2 or PIWIS tester will be needed to do this.

Hi Loren,

thanks a lot for the info. So there is no PIN or code I should have?

No, no pin or code. The radio is linked in the MOST controller and the DME.

I now offered the radio in ebay and immediatly got a question whether I have 'the black codecard' coming with the CDR23.

Sorry for rolling this up again, but I am confused

Loren, you are sure I don't need a PIN, code or card? I really want to avoid trouble with selling something that does not work afterwards....
