996 skid plate?
What does anyone here know about a skid plate for the 996 3.4 or 3.6? I have the PSS9's lowered pretty low and since I have some scratches on the sump my mechanic recommended I consider adding a skid plate. He says Porsche makes a factory one.
Has anyone else added one?

Is that the same as the engine protector plate? If it is, I added it when I changed the stock suspension to the x74. The entire system was Porsche. Carnewall is the place where I ordered everything.

I assume that you're talking about the back end. Wow. You must be REALLY low to need that. I dealt with the issue up FRONT with one from Performance Product, just to protect the vulnerable front end. I've never found an issue in the back.

It's pretty common to get scrapes on the oil pan if you don't have this with the PSS9 suspension, or any other aftermarket suspension with lowered ride height.
I had PSS9 and I also got some scrapes on the pan, so I got the Porsche skid plate. Then that got dented up...haha...so it's off right now.

Funny, so you add the protector plate and then that gets all dented up and scraped. I suppose that's better than the oil pan itself. I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, except your car looks about twice as bada** Very sweet. Love the cup wing and factory aerokit.
I actually had to take the yellow lamin-x off because it was a bit dim driving at night. I loved the look, but just wasn't practical enough for night driving.

I have the skid plate. Seems very straight forward and is a good idea.
I take it off when I do oil changes (3 bolts) - otherwise I seem to dribble a little oil into it and it gets extra messy.

My car was pretty low and it never once scraped the skid plate? I had pretty stiff springs in there though.
