Default Non-sunroof drain water leak?? water in passenger footwell

I had quite a bt of water collected in the floor pan under my passenger footwell behind the driver's seat.

I took the car to the shop (independent) and they took down the headliner to check for a pinched/removed/clooged drain etc. Couldn't find anything wrong with the sunroof drain.

They did however say that the rear corner of my rear window seal is lifted and that there may be a slight leak there?

There seemed to be too much water (2-4 cups) for a "slight" leak and one night of moderate rain.

Anybody have any experience, suggestions?

AC drain line could be plugged. Had this happen to me just after purchasing the car (as have others). There are a few threads with DIY details.

check drains on both sides of battery compartment in trunk..there are 3 or 4 on each side and they get clogged with leaves etc.
You need to remove the plastic covers adjacent to battery cover to inspect. Drains have rubber inserts that you need to remove and clean. Also suggest that you get an airhose and blow out drains while you have rubber inserts out.

The front compartment drains are definately clear. The two front sunroof drains were completely clogged apparently. Perhaps water collected from these drains and then collected in the lowest part of the interior, the driver's side rear passenger footwell?

water from my clogged front drains ended up in rear passenger footwell (how did it make its way there?).
There was a similar amount to what you have experienced.

I have searched for A/C condenser/evap. drain lines but couldn't find any DIY.

If these are clogged would it drain into my DRIVER's side REAR passenger footwell?

Sorry, passenger front footwell. Read your message incorrectly.

rideau--

So you had clogged FRONT sunroof drains and it collected in your REAR driver's side passenger footwell?

I can see this happening. The water runs along the floorboard to the lowest point in the interior cabin, the rear passenger footwell.

Navy's Porsche
I have a cab, so no sunroof. Cab drains were clear. The trunk drains were clogged and I ended up with water (lots) in the rear passenger side footwell. Car was parked on a slight slant towards passenger side..perhaps that was the reason.

Rideau--

How did you get rid of the water? I pulled back the carpet and you can feel that the foam is pretty damp.

If it is really wet blot it with dry sponges then put a newspaper with bricks on it to draw out more water. Then if you have a garage that you can park it in you can open the windows and put a "drop light" on the floor under the footwell for a day or so and the heat will drive the water out. This is what I did when my aircooled 911s rear window seal failed (a couple of times until I got the new one roped in)..

Default More Water !!

I just bought a 01 Cab and had the PPI Wednesday. It was pouring in Los Angeles and the driver door panel was soaked and water was seeping through the carpet at the base of the door panels. I cleaned out the drains by the battery after reading this but would like to know where else in a Cab I should clean out? Thx... Mark

Msark,
Are you sure the window was closed all of the way? Door drains and the plastic water shield between the door panel and door guts. Also put the top in the service position (see the manual - if you don't have 1 join RennTech.org for access to manuals) and clean out the drains in the back.

ivangene--

haha I see you remember my larger rain-related problem. Luckily for me that was resolved quickly and without issue.

I am actually more frustrated with this problem than rain-water causing me to replace my engine....

Thanks for the suggestions, any others?
