The importance of the PPI...

It's funny how some people just jump in with both feet and others of us are a little more cautious...
I had a low mileage C4 inspected last week. Car came back with a leaky RMS (car is a tip so it's more $$ to change), bad driver's window regulator, bald tires, bad horn, potentially a bad rear wheel bearing, etc. Total cost to rectify all issues would have surpassed $4,000 (dealer estimate). I negotiated with the seller but couldn't really get him where I thought it made sense for me.
Anyway, someone came by the seller's house over the weekend, drove the car, and bought the car. No PPI.![nono](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/nono.gif)
I hope it works out for him!

Some people just don't want to know. They see that Porsche they have always wanted, and they buy it, no questions asked.
When I bought mine the PPI revealed about $2,700 worth of required repairs (as I recall), plus the need for new tires. I split it with the seller, and it has all worked out fine.
Sometimes I wonder if those of us who frequent this forum know just enough about these cars to be dangerous, and we obsess over things that don't bother other people.
But then again, I'm glad I got that PPI...

Sold the 40th because I thought I wanted a GT3. I drove a couple of them and realized that the fantasy was better than the reality for daily driving duties.
I like the C4 (or C4S) because my next Porsche will be a daily driver and I want to be secure in all weather (not that it snows much here but we do get VERY heavy rains).

Could have been a good DIY'er willing to gamble - I test drove a 95' 993 once that was owned by a woman - when we drove it I took it up to about 5.5K rpm and she wen t nuts and said that she "never treated her car like that". The car didn't seem to want to 'open up' in the higher RPM range, but otherwise ran and looked good. I gambled on a quick sale and negotiated her a deal on the spot. She took it, and my gamble paid off: clogged drivers side cat and the top end needed a good Seafoam flush - car ran like a bat from he** after that. Not a recommended procedure...

Anybody ever tracked or DE'd a C4 and 'liked' it - I read somewhere that they do ok. Maybe not quite as peppy or zippy as a 2wd, but a confident ride and deliver good mobility in the corners??? No hijak intended...
