Default I know!! Everyone wants it - Pictures and brief story of my car

OK, Here you go. Pictures! These are the only ones I have right now:

I bought the car from a buddy, who had just bought a V8 Vantage and needed to appease his wife and sell the cabriolet. I included the rear end pic, because I wanted to stir the pot about the badging on the back. This car came with the 911 in silver on the back. Comments? I really like it myself.

So here's the specs: 2001 C2 cabriolet, 18" turbo twists, savannah beige leather, Tip, clear markers., advanced technic package, heated/power seats ( yes, I have the window sticker - $85,690 new)

The guy I bought it off of had "zero" problems with the car. He is a good friend, and I was one of the first people to drive the car when he bought it. He had it for 4 years, then sold it to me after he got the Vantage. I'm serious, he only did oil changes and recommended maintenance.

Since I have gotten it, here's what I have done:

brake lines flushed, new fluid
Tranny flushed new fluid
new brake pads / rotors
New tires - Sumitomo HTR Z3 (285's on rear)
all regular maintenance

Here's the list of things that have failed or broken:
Cracked engine oil pan - replaced
Stripped brake caliper threads - drilled out and time-certs put in
wheel alignment
tranny leaking - transmission reseal and new fluids (again)
headlights stopped working - new switch installed

here's what's broken and need's to be fixed:
brake lights don't work - see previous post from yesterday-
ABS light keeeps coming on - passenger seat belt needs replacing
Windshield wipers don't work - needs new motor
front left shock leaking

All work done at Gerber Motorsport in Seattle.

This car is a daily driver, and my kids LOVE riding in the car. I have 2 booster seats that fit perfectly in the back seats. They are Fischer Price brand, and are called FP sport. The base is adjustable, and it really does fit perfectly back there.

We have a 2001 passat 1.8T, and just did the cash for clunkers deal to get a new Toyota Venza AWD. I had a 91 ford explorer that was KBB value of $175.00, and I got $4500.00 for it from Obama. SWEET!

Anywyas, I know this is a long post, but I now have some pics and the story of the car up. Any comments about the car or the brake switch would be very welcome.
(Also mod ideas!)

Welcome! One of my favorite color combinations. This year has had me wishing for a cabriolet. But then November in MN comes around and my coupe is pretty snug. hmm, perhaps one of each . .

Hi Ed,

I will take you up on the offer of the shock. I have seen your post ect.., and I am really glad you replied. I think the color combo on our cars is beautiful, I get comments on it daily. I also want to start doing work on the car myself. My brother used to drive stock cars, so I used to do al ot of work on his cars. That, however, was 25 years ago and on early seventy dodges. The porsche is a different story, I want to do the work on it, I have the tools, I've just been a little tentative to get started.

I am going to barrier right now to get the new brake switch and swap it out. So that's a start. I'de really like to do the shock too.

Oh yeah - That last picture isn't even me, it's a buddy of mine from Toronto, after a few drinks. He wanted to look like he was driving fast, even though he was parked in my garage.

Scratch the brake lights issue. I fixed it. $23.00 switch and about 45 minutes of under dash struggles got it done. Really easy, just a major PITA ! when working under dash.

Very nice! Again, welcome. As for the badge... its in the correct spot (above the hump for mk1).....But, like Ed said... forget the 10-2 hands location, 9-3 is the correct postion.
