Talking 6speedonline? What am I to think?

I registered there a while ago because it looked like it got all the 996TT traffic (when I was looking).

But now I wonder... Seems like every post is from a Honda-esque fanboi looking for a huge carbon fiber wing, turbos the size of your head, or that latest 20" wheels with "big lip". If I hadn't seen it, I'm not sure I would have believed it. Clearly, I'm way too old to own a 996. If only I had a bigger subwoofer...

It's sad, but whatever. Rennlist is not that much better, everybody here's talking about faux carbon fiber this and check out my paint to match center console that.

I think this site is more fanboi than 6speed, well, that is, if I understand the definition of fanboi. But 6speed is certainly more Mod loving.

I have always found 6 speed to be more a of poseur fest. About the only thing I peruse there is the parts for sale area.

Than again, the 997 forums here has been pretty bizarre lately

yea, try the regional tabs, I have had good luck with the Northwest droup. Good guys (and gals) and a much more intimate board, Its not all about cars, but there is quite a bit of "lets do ....... together"

things like Coffee GTG - Lunches - Sushi nights - Kart racing - even Bowling, its just a good group

I definantly like RL for Porsche talk though - the 6 is more "social events" for me

As a mod on both I think both are great forumns. I get to speak personally with members of both daily. The 6's members tend to be mid/late 20's and into their 30's with a bit more willingness to spend. Rennlist's members are older and make more educated and researched decisions. Presumably because they have families to support as well and the income is a bit more spread out.

I enjoy the dynamic both forumns offer, and I get about an equal amount of business from both.

+1 - Excellent assessment and completely consistent with my observations. I find both boards useful, but for different reasons... and like TV - it's always easy to change the channel if there is something you don't like.

Maybe frugal and wise investors?

FWIW, I'm on Renn and 6Speed and they're both OK boards. Different crowds, but still good sources for relevant info, depending on what you're looking for. And since Choi is banned from both, they are both pleasant now - doh!

For 996TT 6speed is way better than rennlist (more than 2 posts a day...LOL). For 996 the opposite is true. Ben is still on renntech if you miss him. This is a stupid thread BTW. Way too much generalization. Spend time on the PART of the sites that suits you and move on.
