I didn't hold anyone at fault for the deal. Not saying that it did or didn't fall off of some ones car, it really doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure it came off of the road. It was a neat story at the next stop especially since I thought it was the guys cigar until it smashed the windshield.
And they are really fun roads. I think we ran around 100 miles that day. Here's one with the Enzo (@3:15 in the video) and a Ruf Turbo R, as you can tell I moved over to let his pass.....(I didn't want to get to far ahead of him and havehim make a wrong turn......)

man. We have mandatory full coverage glass in MA.. I went through two windshields in the last two years, but I've never seen a break like that!

That looks fun and all, Ed... but I don't like the idea of what that Enzo guy did, crossing double yellow just to overtake.
Did you guys cross over at Mesa Grande? I bet you that Enzo wouldn't have the guts to cross the double yellow on that road since it actually has some real switch backs, not straights.
Enzo or Civic, it was a dumb move.

I saw enough room that he could get by if I slowed.
I hate it when people double yellow.

I missed the part in the video seeing someone 'throw' the bolt. It's entirely possible that the rear tire of a car in front of you picked it up and 'threw' it. Did you see the hand that let go of it??? If you did you likely saw the car or at least the color of the car. In that case you should file a police report in addition to your insurance claim - if no more than to document the event, place, time, etc. If it was local-yokal they will likely do it again or something similar someday soon. A collection of reports + police knowledge of the folks that live around there will be a great lead. Also: if you tell the insurance company that it was thrown, they may require you to file a police report. Sorry if the answers to these questions are contained in the narrative somewhere in this thread...

And Marlon, no one threw a bolt. It came from the road.

Ed, that blonde wig really suits you, haven't seen you looking like that before
Catching the bolt sucks - but catching it on video is kinda cool.
You mentioned camera mounts...
Heres what you need - Delkin Fat Gecko (made locally in Poway)
http://www.delkin.com/products/acces...fat-gecko.html
You can mount inside the windshield, or outside the car - lots of flexibility, and an extremely solid mount for video or stills. (Loads to 7 lbs)
I used it for these two test runs - with a Flip MinoHD camcorder - first video is mounted outside on the 996, 2nd is mounted inside windshield on the Land Rover

Hey Ed, that's a drag, but pretty amazing slo-mo video there!
Then watching the video through the cracked glass is kind of hard core, like some kind of Jesse James reality chase show, ha.
Funny can really hear your car when the Helmholz kicks in and resonates in the cabin....
Who's the blonde, and what'd you do with Paris?
