Question Rear Bumper Removal?

Searched and found 1 mention, but not really an informative step-by-step. Anyone have any pointers?

Did the front bumper today and can't believe how straightforward it was.

The rear is equally easy. There are 3 screws on the sides, 1 up in the leading top corner of the bumper cover, and 2 along the bottom of the side of the cover.

Then 4 along the top center of the cover along the engine bay, and then another 4 on the bottom center. Lastly there is 1 electrical connector for license plate lights/backup sensor.

It goes off easy, and goes back on just as easy.

Nice; thanks very much. Would removing the taillights prove helpful for the removal and reinstall?

It's not necessary, but it's a little safer to remove them to avoid scratching your bumper during removal/installation.

yes it is absolutely necessary to remove the taillights as there are some alignment clips for the bumper cover under where the tail lights go. If you don't pull the tail lights it is very easy to mis-align the cover under the clips instead of on them. No but deal however as the tail lights are held in by only 1 10mm bolt.

It's probably VERY similar to the method I used on my 997. See the link:

Dan:

except for one pop fastener, it is exactly the same process to remove the bumper cover. I also notice that the 997 tail lights have 2 screws instead of one bolt holding them on.

You guys were not kidding. I think its easier than the front. My C4S has 2 bolts for the taillights. I love that everything except the 4 Philips bolts across the the top is T-25.

Thanks everyone!
