996 with GT3 package - what's it worth?
My buddy is looking at a 2004 996 with GT3 package.
Silver with Black Leather with 20, 000 miles
PCCB package
GT3 Body kit and wheel package
I've looked at 'real' GT3s for 60-80,000 on Excellence, the Mart, Ebay and others sites.
Can you give me an idea of what this specific car is going for?
Any issues with the motor on this model year? Rear main seal, porous cases??

Full Cup Aerokit II (front bumper, side skirts, spoiler) $5,500 plus shipping ($300?) plus paint and install ($1,000-2,000?)
PCCB parts $15,000 plus shipping plus install
2004 C2 w/ 20K miles guesstimate around $30,000?
Wheels?
What suspension does the car have?
If the buyer is specifically looking for a car with all these add on parts then it might be worth paying a lot more than the base car. Otherwise it's not worth much more. Without the GT3 engine or suspension, it's all show and no go. The PCCB could end up being a negative if the rotors ever need replacing.

A note about PCCB (I have them): Yes, the rotors are extremely expensive to replace (about 15K for the rotors alone). If the car hasn't been tracked you may never need to replace them. They are great on the street and your friend will love the lack of brake dust. When they die, you can replace them with iron rotors for ~$300-$350 each (996 GT3 Cup car or Deman Motorsport slotted for the front, 997 Cup rotors for the rear [350mm]).
Cheers,

The car could have been ordered with the PCCBs.
If so, the initial sticker would have been about $8,100. So a car with PCCBs might fetch $3K to $4K more than an identical car w/o PCCBs.
The GT3 Body kit and wheel package might add another $2.5k to $3.5k to the car.
Remember that these were options and the "value" of an option depreciates just like the car does.

They wouldn't add much unless he ran accross the perfect buyer. Most people looking for these cars don't want wings, and wouldn't know the difference between a stock bumper and GT3. I promise you almost nobody has ever heard of PCCB brakes and would freak if someone told them it would cost $15K to replace the rotors. They couldn't run away fast enough. If you have the right buyer Tim is probably right on the money. Otherwise, I don't see much of a difference between another lightly optioned 996.
"Without the GT3 engine or suspension, it's all show and no go." Smackboy, with an NA 996 ALL mods fall under this category!!
That said, I would be the perfect buyer and would happily pay a premium for this car. It sounds great!

Don't let the "GT3" package fool you. It's just a standard 996 with a body kit.

thanks for the reply fellas. The 'problem' with this car is that it is a leased car with a $77K (Canadian) buy out. I know the present owner and the potential buyer and the present owner is under contract to buy the car out right.
As far as options go, all i know is that it had about $50,000 Cdn in options which would likely include: body kit, suspension, ceramic brakes, wheels ($11,000 option... yikes would be very careful parallel parking this thing!) and when I see 2002 996 turbos going for $40K, one has to scratch his head...
I can't believe that the rotors are that expensive... $15K!!!

Yikes! $77K buy out. I would drop that one off at the dealer with the keys and run away. I would definitely try to renegotiate the lease buy out with the dealer, they would be fools not to work a deal. Someone is going to lose a lot on this deal.

$14,885 US funds from Suncoast (discount Porsche dealer in Florida). Price them at your local Canadian dealer and just make sure an ambulance is nearby.
Anyhow, for those of you looking to buy a 996 with PCCBs, feel free to use the high replacement cost in your negotiating tactics (at least to those owners not on Rennlist ), but always keep in mind you can bolt on iron replacements for ~$1300. Nothing else needs to change. No caliper changes. You can even use the PCCB pads on iron rotors. They're fine.
Cheers,

Friend A has to buy the 996 out for $77K and will. He just bought a M5 so the whole family can fit in.. 3 kids.
Friend B was going to buy it for the discount and Friend A was going to take a bath on the buyout that he has contracted from the start of the lease. His lease payments, by the way, was very reasonable and Friend B asked me to check with the guys on the forum on values. He would buy for $40k (CDN) or even $50 k but no where near the $77K.
For my $77K, i would consider a twin turbo air cooled 911 - ha! Just to stir up some sh** on the 996 forum!
Thanks for your help fellas.

Sure carbon fiber stick on trim panels, and bling/heavy 3 piece wheels, silly wings etc. don't help performance, but the GT3 suspension is actually a straight forward swap over to a C2, and it makes quite the improvement. Track times certainly drop way down and the chassis comes alive! I couldn't believe how good the factory GT3 set up was when I first drove one, and it was a short time before I swapped everything over to my C2...
