Thanks for the link Ed. Sounds like I can improve what i got with the PSE mod, but I may fall short of the sound my buddies GT3 makes. Life continues to offer me trade offs........

I did appreciate the "get rid of the muff" humor that followed though. Sounds like i don't need a impact wrench as much as a Gillete Mach 4, and i"ll only be half as dirty.

Well there is a Gillette mod, do a search. I have that one too.

GT3 is amazing, I have had a ride at the track in 2 of them, wow! GL with the mods!

Is anyone running stock headers, Fabspeed's cat bypass pipes and their mufflers? I know it throws a CEL but what is the sound, power delivery like with no cats? Thoughts?

I went with the muffler bypass and I think it sounds amazing, not to load just a little throater.

I don't think that would be worth it by itself.

Haf the benefit of doing aftermarket exhaust is weight savings, the stock cans are about 20lbs each.

Also, bypass pipes are interesting and fun, but don't pay Fabspeed's inflated price. There is a good seller on eBay that has beautiful stainless with tips, they're essentially identical to Fabspeed bypass at half the price.

I ran bypass for a little while before I got my full Fabspeed exhaust.
PM me if anyone's intersted, they are crazy fun a while, or good for track days.

Fabspeed is coming out with a 200 cell cross cats for $1200. It will be the option if my stock cats ever go. Stock cats are expensive and unreliable.

I had these on my '99 C2 and thought they were too loud and obnoxious. At the track they were unbearable. FWIW, I had them with stock headers.

I'm running cat bypass pipes with stock manifold and mufflers. The sound is pretty good with no droning issues. I used the spacesr that Fabspeed sells to back the O2 sensors out of the direct exhaust flow and the CEL only comes on once in a while; usually with a warning that my O2 sensors are "aging". I reset it with Durametric software

Just my $0.02, but I found the Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes to be too loud. I replaced with stock mufflers with the PSE mod. I loved the exhaust note, but my wife and the neighbors didn't appreciate it late at night or early in the morning.

Leigh2,

Are you running cat bypass pipes all the time or just on the track?

Also, you are spacing just the secondary sensors (not the pre-cat sensors), correct?

Thanks.

I posted a short video on youtube before and after I installed cat bypass pipes. I have stock headers. I do not have fabspeed mufflers however I have the PSE mod. The video isn't the best however it gets the job done.

Prior to getting the cat bypass pipes, I had the muffler bypass pipes. I loved them however they were simply too loud. I thought that it was simply a matter of time before I got a citation. The cat bypass pipes are fairly quite at idle however they can get loud when the engine is pushed. In my opinion, that is perfect.

hey if anyone wants to sell me their used bypass pipes, let me know.
I was considering buying them off ebay for 150 (even though I know i will probably regret it for being too loud lol).
I could pay 100 shipped and paypal the money.

Let me know. Thanks!

$100 shipped for $600 Fabspeed bypass pipes? Net of about $80 for the seller. Nice try.
