Opinions Wanted: Painting Wheels

Three Wheelin'
Gunmetal barrels are great, so hard to see brake dust in there compared to silver or polished.
I'm biased, but gunmetal barrel, polished or hyper silver painted and all cleared spokes and hoop/lip would look very sharp and would make the wheel look much larger. It's a lot of work though, new set of wheels type money to do it right, so if that's a consideration I think matched to body color would be nice. If body color is already arctic silver, maybe think about a slightly darker silver, not as far as gunmetal, just a smokier silver.

Whatever color you choose; go with powder coating. It is very durable, is not attacked by break dust or any harsh chemicals you may use to remove dust.
Do a google search for a shop that does powder coating in your area. You will not be disappointed. I messed with the Wurth kit and was disappointed at the amount of work and the (in the end) lousy results. And believe me, it's not that I didn't try!

well, i bought some wheels on ebay. now the thing is, UPS tracking claims the package (4 wheels) is 64 lbs. that makes it to 16 lbs. per wheel. they can't be that light, can they?

Talk to the wheel manufacturer about powder coating if you're thinking of that. I've heard of two main concerns with powder:
- The heating process (400* F for 30 mins) may harm the integrity of certain types of wheels
- Powder coating can hide cracks that will telegraph through paint
For me, I will either use anodized or painted wheels. Never powdercoated.
btw, the idea of a darker barrel to hide brake dust is great. I did that with my street GT3 wheels: black barrels and black chrome spokes (think gunmetal). Works great on a black car. On a silver car, the darker the wheels the more aggressive it'll look. It's up to you.
Cheers,

I think red or orange would *potentially* look good for a track application... not so sure for the street...
