Hi Andy,

The Carrera GT and 40th Anniversary 996 had them as standard equipment.

See here for hazard removal, be careful, the plastic trim scratches/marks easily.

Excellent instructions, thanks!! You do realize that you guys are changing me....I used to be SO happy and SO proud just to drive my car but now I've got rid of the pumpkins and pedals, am looking at gauge rings and now I have to find out what the OBC hack is.......

Your car is an 02+ right? OBC (On board computer) is standard, no need for a hack!

Right, 02 (I really liked the upgrades in this year) and glad I don't have to hack the OBC....

I have carbon fiber and gray face gauges but still decided to go with the silver rings. I felt the carbon on carbon would blend too much and I was looking for some contrast like most of you. Here are some before and after pics and I would imagine that the carbon rings would have looked not much different than the black stock surrounds.

DUH!!!

Well, we don't have to hit you over the head with a baseball bat more than once for you to get it!

Damn Newbies!!! Of course, I am just kidding, at least about the "baseball bat" part.

Hmmm...aluminum would go well with the other "aluminum" bits I have on the shifter and e-brake. Is there a consensus on which aluminum surrounds to get?

Thumbs up

How does one remove the stock bezel system with the rings and plastic as one? Does it pop right off? Noob here.

I'd like to take mine off, clean the fog that's behind it and (try to) spray them rings silver.

Are those even removable - I thought the plastic faces were part of the acutal gauges?

Seems like any set of aluminum rings are $100 or more. Not worth that much to me at this point to have silver rings around my gauges!

Nope, Jimmy you would have to pull the entire cluster out of the dash.

Thanks Marc...I guess I'll have to do that then: take off the instrument cluster (which appears pretty easy)

I swearit looks like there's polishing compound that was thrown/slung onto the instrument cluster and it got behind the glass, along with dust and dirt and other dried up moisture...I have detailed the car since iI got it (Jan 09') and the cluster is the last thing to tackle.

Really loving the C2 Cab btw ! Although the SL600 I had for a bit trumped it in power and ride quality...but not in the looks nor in the handling dept.
