First, much thanks for all the great advice previously given on a multitude of topics for a relative noob such as myself ![thumbup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/thumbup.gif)
Two current issues I need a bit o help with:
1. After driving up a relatively steep driveway, I smell what appears to be "burning clutch smell" after I park my car in the garage. The clutch has just been replaced. Is this normal?
2. Moving the shifter into third gear is not always as smooth as the other gears. Does this indicate an issue or is that just how it is sometimes?
Thanks in advance,
Brian

Brand new clutch might smell a bit till it gets used a few times. BUT that said... since it is new, make sure there is not something wrong, (i.e. the pedal is out, you go up a hill and the RPM's rev, but the car doesnt move faster)
As for 3rd gear, I will tell you that new tranny fluid changed the way my car shifted BIG TIME! There are quite a few who would agree and there are many posts about which oil and all that... bottom line is, its simple as heck... cheap (~$75) and in many cases fixes these type of "problems"
Good luck, I am sure others will chime in with ideas and advise

I notice it after driving up the driveway mostly but will starting to pay more attention to it elsewhere. What would a synchro gear issue feel like? Exhorbitant repair cost I am sure....

I had a bad synchro on my '79 911 SC, 2nd gear. It was difficult to shift from 1st to 2nd, not smoothe at all.Tough to engage without double clutching into 2nd gear.

Like mentioned, could be a synchros but 2nd usually is the one to fail. When you say you notice after going up a driveway, were you stopped on an incline and then went up it, or were you moving already? I only ask bc some people will ride the clutch a bit on inclines when trying to engage it to prevent rolling or stalling. That could give a burning clutch smell for a second, especially depending how high you rev the engine. Also, new clutches often smell a bit until they're broken in. You would notice that on more than just an incline, however.
