Default parts & labor cost for new clutch?

Looks like my clutch is giving up the ghost at 47K miles. Wondering what others have paid recently.

The job is a 4 hour job tops and is worth $800-$900, parts & labor.

Just a FYI, I ended up $1370 parts and labor at the dealer. Replaced at 42K.

Mine is going to go soon (45K) and the dealer quoted me $2200 for everything. $1370 seems like a ridiculously great deal...

I wish I had a lift... I'd do it myself.

Hmm. Perhaps your quote included a new flywheel? Mine was OK (as yours might be when they look)

Do the math. Book is 4 hours @ $125/hr. Clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing is $400. Add $100 if the flywheel needs to be resurfaced.

Hopefully the $2200 quote includes a reach around....

Remove the engine for a R&R of a clutch?

I think you made someone's sales quota for that month.....

negative. that was just a standard line item description.

I went to the dealer and I think I posted accordingly.

It was really just a post that lays out the cost differential between the stock and the performance options. Labor varies according to geographic location, of course (not by that much, but still)

Regardless, you paid way too much. Essentially a R&R clutch and related parts is no different from a R&R on a VW bug. Drop the Transmission, and then everything is right there.

I recently had mine replaced. I got quotes from both dealers and indy's that ranged from $1200 to $1500. I ended up going to a dealer (it was the $1200 quote) but had to drive about 2 hours away.
