Default 996 Anniversary or Cayman S

Hi All,
996 40th Anniversary and 06 Cayman S are now in mid/low the 30s with about 30k miles. I was wondering which would be a better buy? Anyone has owned/driven both? I have driven only the 996 and love it thought the clutch has some time to used to. Thanks.

Not a huge Cayman fan, but you need to drive one before you make your decision. No question, they are very different cars. Good luck.

The interior is an improvement on the cayman. The "S" will be the only cayman I would consider.
Yes, I would get a cayman S over the anniversary. In fact, if I get rid of my 996, I will be shopping for a cayman S. They are so cheap right now!

Drive both and decide. Do you want the push from a rear engined, rear wheel drive feel or a precise carvng machine? Can't go wrong with either one.

I don't know your situation, but I can fit my 5 year old in the back of my C4S. Can't do that in a Cayman.

40th ed. No question on this one. You get a 911 AND X51 + LSD. That should seal the deal.

Caymans are fun. But just not a 911...

A few guys on the 997 forum had a Cayman and have moved back to the 911 (997).

LiveNupe in this forum has a 40th for Sale.

I'd go for the 40th but you need to DRIVE them, whatever you enjoy more, well there is your answer!
I had a Boxster S, I loved it..great car.. but.. not a 911.

Cayman handles better and is easier to drive. 911, while imperfect, is more fun to drive and has more power. Really just depends what you want in a car. I really like Caymans, but they do strike me as overpriced when they sit on the dealer's lot next to Boxsters.

this is like asking if you want beer or water with your pizza.....

and old quote from unknown. "A Boxster (or Cayman in this case) sits in the driveway and reminds you that you didnt buy the 911"

I haven't driven a 40th, but I did drive a Cayman S and it was certainly enjoyable. To say it doesn't qualify to be a Porsche makes no sense at all...it's just different than a 996.Prices for used Caymans have also dropped considerably compared to the new sticker prices. Go drive both, they aren't going to 'feel' the same.GL
