Are the flat spots really that bad? I live in Cleveland but the car is only driven in the warmer weather months.

You can run a higher tire pressure and it will not flat spot as bad. Since these are street tires, I don't really have a issue with it.

I may need to buy new tires. Really considering these Sumi's. I understand that they are not as good as the Michelins. But, the michelins are almost 3x the cost. I am having a hard time justifying the cost difference. My car is only driven on the street and I do not push the limits at all.

Not only that but it is much quieter than any of the other tires out there. You buy a 170MPH tire to drive 170MPH. These are great street tires for the money and nothing else.

They're "Y" rated, or 186 MPH:

I've got the Sumi IIs on mine (cheaper and I preferred the tread pattern) - about 2 months old now, I like them a lot

I recently put Sumi 3's on my car along with PSS9 upgrade (from US MO30 & Eibach Sport Springs with Pilot Sports). The overall handling improvement is noticeably more comfortable over city streets (pot holes, bumps, etc), and for weekend spirited driving the stiffer setting really sharpens the handling. As for the tires, the Sumi 3's are absolutely great for daily driving on the street. I drive considerably more aggressive than anyone else on the road with me, and I find the Sumi's provide good performance and are an excellent value at the price. I have had Pirelli PZero's and Pilot Sports. Both were nice tires but they were pricey, wore quickly, were noisy, and my Pilot fronts cupped with 60% remaining. One knock on the Sumi's is the smell, which I know sounds ridiculous. But when sitting in traffic, I can smell the "new rubber" smell off my tires. This gets especially strong after I get home and have been driving hard (110mph+) over windy roads along the coast on my way home. Otherwise they are quiet, have never lost traction, and even seem to grip well in light rain. No complaints so far with about 2500 mi on them.

I just put the Sumi 3's on my 996. My indy gave me a ton of grief for putting these on the car. Telling me that I will not experience how the 996 was meant to be felt with these cheap tires on the car. He is a great wrench and Porsche fanatic. He just reminds me of the soup **** from seinfeld.

I have only had them on the car for 1-2 weeks but they seem fine. I am not an aggressive driver. I just cannot see spending 2-3 times the money. I do not track my car and I use it as a DD.

Just did my 2nd DE event this weekend with the sumi's... they are holding up very well. I am still liking these.
