For Those With Exclusive Shift Knobs; Removal Tip
Look at the B&M Short Shifter Instructions. Unclip the boot; got it. Use loosen set screw. Ah ha - its not a hex; its a Torx; no problem; have those. Its not budging, and I am rounding out the inside of the set screw. F. I brace the shift lever, and with the Torx ratchet fitting in the set screw, give it a little encouragement to set with a few taps from the hammer. I then attach the ratchet, push in hard and turn, and success, the set screw relinquishes its hold in the **** fitting. Motherpussbucket; the factory used thread locker on it; no wonder.

OK, so now the set screw is for the near future permanently affixed to my Torx socket; T15 BTW. I take the shifter, boot and all, up the road to my local Ace Hardware and start trying all of their metric hex head cap bolts. Success; M5X10, 80 pitch. $0.50/ea

So, before you star this process, get some M5X10, 80 pitch hex head bolts.
Actually, I'm sure they use it for good reason, but I will see how this new bolts holds. The 5mm hex feels really robust; should be able to torque it down pretty good.
