What are you going to do with 4 225/40 tires? It will take you a minimum of 2 years to wear out the first pair, unless they start to fall apart. By then the 2nd pair will be 8 years old.
I would not buy those tires at ANY price!

I just put a new set of Sumitomo's on my A3.
My tire place matched TireRack price, was actually cheaper by a few dollars w/o shipping.
But I did check the manufacture date before he installed them, just to make sure he wasn't selling me old tires.
They were made about 3 months prior iirc.

Tires manufacutered within the last 12 mos are fine. I just got a set of Nexen 3000 ZR rated for about $450 delivered to my front door. Very happy with them.
