Unhappy Bleeding oil....

After my car was parked for 2 hours this morning, I returned to find my 2002 C2 Cab bleeding... The attached picture shows a 2 foot diameter oil puddle. Oil was dripping at the rate of 1 drop every 5-10 seconds.

I couldn't see the source of the leak, but it was dripping from the oil drain plug. Thoughts? RMS? Cracked housing? Loose oil drain plug?

It's at Lucent Motors. The RMS has been changed twice since the engine was replaced at 10,000 miles.

Thoughts?

Was the engine noisy prior to being parked?
If yes, then the IMS probably broke.

Other wise, loose drain plug or cracked oil pan.

Man, I would spit that oil out to...Looks pretty dirty. When my IMS failed the oil was more to the middle of the car, put on lift and take a closer look.

definatly not the ims or rms. oil filter and plug are on passenger side in a more forward position of the front of the rear tire.

did you open the back up and see if there is any oil in there... around the air box, sprayed or otherwise?? Maybe take a picture UP at the bottom of the motor from front and back and both sides?

That sucks...hope it is something simple like a tech forgot to tighten the drain plug or messed up with the filter tightening.GL.

Smile Problem fixed...

Car's been fixed!

The oil was leaking from a small crack in the sump cover, near the oil drain plug. There were a few impact marks on the cover. New oil sump cover, 17 qts. of oil (filled twice), a new filter, and all is well.

Big thanks to Tom, Jesus and Carlos at Lucent Motors!

That's good news. Tom and the Lucent guys are good guys.

So you probably bottomed out and cracked it somewhere. Car too low?
