Clock

Sadly, the best time-keeping clocks were the Zeit (time) units from VDO that were last seen in the 993s. They have been the most accurate clocks that I have ever seen in a car. (I actually have one of those on my nightstand courtesy of Elliot in MD). I suspect the 996 clock is wired similarly to that in the 997. I read about issues with fast and slow running clocks in the initial delivery of 997s and discovered that if you order the navigational system the clock will be updated by the GPS input. I suspect that you have no nav system--correct? The answer, my friend, is as the parts guy said--the entire instrument panel has to be switched out.

interesting that this thread is still alive. Update for me now is that my clock is about 1/2 an hour slow. This is obviously different from my initial 7 minute slow post. Took about a year to slow down an additional 23 minutes.
I wish there was a fix instead of the $1000. It annoys me, but not to the point of spending $1K.

My clock is slow in my 997 as well. It's actually off about
5 or so minutes per week, then it just stays there.
I presume Porsche will cover this under warranty--if
an electronic board is required. However, it's
probably not worth worrying about...
