Default Driving with the 'donut'... arggghh

...felt like driving a corolla. LOL Ran over this anchor bolt that kinda derailed my date that evening. Couldn't find a tire shop with the 285s in stock anywhere in southbay LA so slapped the donut on.

BTW - a rear tire/wheel doesn't fit in the front trunk. But i'm sure you all knew that.

I wanted to see a picture of the car ala' donut - I didnt know the rears didnt fit in the front bonnet..that's a little rough to work around (especially if you have light colors inside)

Anyone wanna do a photoshop of this in locations that would be better than the back seat???
(ghetto style)

Beats not rolling anywhere 997 style. And that is what the big bag is for in the tool kit. It protects your interior from your filthy new passenger.

tire is not repairable. you really cant see it. but if you were looking dead on at the hole, you see more than daylight. gotta order a new tire.

my son asked me if i got new wheels after seeing the red donut. and followed with how he didnt like my new wheels! haha. donut is still on so i'll try and snap an ugly pic.

that big bag is pretty sturdy and does keep the filth off the interior.

yeah, had to drive on the donut for a day since my rear driver's corded. Also bent a wheel in the process as the tire deflated rather rapidly at 70mph.

in the C4s, none of the tires fit in the front. so, if you have a passenger, you'll have to kindly leave them roadside as you make room for the precious cargo, encased in plastic bag.

The rear wheel does fit in the front trunk Speedyjp. At least my 18 turbo-twist rim with 265/35 tire did. All you have to do is to completely unscrew the nut that keeps the spare tire in place to be able to tilt the damaged tire more.

I think practicing this could be a good pastime for a sunday afternoon - to be able to fit the tire in the trunk when the tire damage happens.

Sorry to hear about the tire...

This question isn't about the tires, but as long as we're talking about the front trunk... It's still a mystery to me as to what conditions are needed to consistently open the front trunk latch - it's almost random (almost because it seems to open when in my garage, but not when I'm away from home) when the trunk latch works. I suspect I'll have to take it in, but I was wondering if anyone else had problems with the latch (because of the uncertainty, I don't store anything in there I might need on a moment's notice). Sometimes I'll pull on the trunk release (in the door well) and I won't get a sound. Sometimes I'll get a click frm the latch area but no hood release and sometimes I'll get complete success... Hoping it's just new-operator (that's hyphenated) error...

rudy, take it in. not normal. mine always works (so far).

guy, my 285 on an 18 doesn't fit. unless you are saying it fits because you can partially close the lid. tried every which way. the bolt was never a factor. its the overall size. i had to leave the tire/wheel temporarily behind and pick it up later since i had a passenger. i'm thinking about leaving an old blanket & cargo strap in the car. so next time i'll just tie the tire/wheel down on the roof somehow.

Put it in the back seat with the plastic bag over it....unless you have 3 other passengers, in which case, hide it in the bushes and come back for it.
