Just purchased Front and Rear Sway/Strut Bars to go with my new H&R Springs. Any recommendations to how these should be set up or what "setting" I should have them on? Never installed these before and will probably get to it sometime next week after my springs are installed.

I guess my main question is how tight should the front bar be installed? It looks like there are a few adjustments on the front bar but not sure if the rear one has any adjustments...just what I have seen from the pictures, maybe they both adjust, I don't know. Both are made by H&R I believe.

I have the gt3 sways and started with one from full soft on both, eventually moved to a lot stiffer on the rear, and now run a full stiff on rear and middle on front.

I do not race, just looking for better handling to compliment the springs - any recommendations for an every day, street driver?

id start with one from full soft on both and see how that feels. I use to drive the car every day with that setup.

H&R for c4 are 3 way adjustable.... start with both at middle settings (neutral)... you will like this setup.

Neutral - got it - I will give this a whirl and my guess is, as long as it is better than stock (or whatever I bought the car with) I will be very pleased.

You should look for the best compromise.
As the others told you, begin with the softer position
You'll find very different the cornering balance. Even in the softer position the car will get a direct steering response. You are changing the stock set up and the car will be a bit more radical and less progressive, but at the same time you'll notice everything through the steering wheel. Only has to to become accustomed to the new sensations. I'm sure you'd be improving your driving skills with a more confident front axle.

My front strut bar only has one place to bolt it on - and then it is adjustable from the middle - does more tight mean stiffer steering? How tight do I want to go with this? Looks like the end caps screw in and out and there are bolts on the end to ensure it stays once the right setting has been set.

I have attached pics of the installed strut bar. I wanted to make sure (1) I did it correctly and (2) if there was any way to tighten now that it is installed...It seems pretty tight...is this a good thing? Bad thing? I simply put it in and that was about it...no room for adjusting the middle bar once it was installed...any suggestions of if I should tighten / loosen and what the effects might be?

I also noticed (as shown in the last 2 pics) that once I loostened the bolts to install it looks like they slipped from the original location - should I be concerned about this? There looks to already be some factory bars that go towards the dashboard and hook up beneath the dash area...but they do not go straight across like the aftermarket piece...

Just wanted to make sure I was on the right track with this - if there are any modification/adjustment suggestions out there I would greatly appreciate them...I already took it out and my guess is that it is all mental, but it feels a bit better i.e. tighter steering over stock...but again, this could be just all in my head

It looks like it is in upside down? Is that to "double the life" ? (sorry, had to)

Great looking bar, good job on DYI, not sure about all the ins and outs of these, but you will learn soon enough.

In regards to the cabin air filter...I noticed that too. And believe me when I say during the humid days this year it smelled like a dirty used hockey bag when the air was running

Any idea of where I can find one of these? A clean one perhaps?

Upside down? Oh that isn't good...any second opinions on this?

I've got bad news for you. The 996 comes equiped with a strut bar from the factory. If you look closely at your pictures I believe you can see the factory bar underneath the new bar you just installed.

Yes, I see the bars that go inward towards the center of the dashboard. However, I figured a straight-line bar would perhaps do a better job?

I am hoping this is NOT correct given the fact that other companies make these strut bars? Just looked at the ones on Techart's website...would they make these available even if the 996 already has it? Interesting...

Well, now that I am sticky, wet, and confused I am going to keep the strut in and call it a day...the good news is I only paid $100 for it on Ebay! And it looks nice...although a $100 bill in my wallet would look nicer right about now

The reason behind this idea was I bought H&R springs and wanted front struts & rear sways to make it handle a bit better with the lower springs...we'll see next week. I might be kicking myself for not just going the coilover route...hopefully not though.
