Another 997 3.8S engine shot!!!
While looking for a new engine for my 996 I found this on ebay.

Got a kick out of it, Really "SHOT" but what is a little bullet hole. Maybe some sculp-metal and it could be patched. Wonder if it was run with the hole in it, problem is the oil drained out.

I loved that almost casual remark....."small bullet hole"....almost like a description of something that's a common occurence like the front spoiler slightly scraped a concrete block in a parking lot. What the hell, this sort of thing happens every day doesn't it? Wonder what the rest of the car looks like? Probably see it on one of the Police Wild Video segments....being chased down by DEA in a running gun battle.
Let me ask you a question...hypothetical of course.....but if YOU were driving that car and someone was shooting at you...would you drive the $hit out of that car as fast as you could to get as far away as possible? In that case, and considering the location of the bullet hole, it would be logical to assume that the oil took the path of least resistance....wonder how hot that engine got? Of course there is another possible scenario....and that is that the other shots found the driver and the car didn't go anywhere.

Years ago, I worked at the home office of an insurance company as a multi-line personal underwriter. In short, I was one of the guys who accepted/denied/cancelled policies.
One of the underwriters put an auto policy up for non-renewal because the body shop that was doing repairs under the policy reported that the damage was done during a shootout....unreported to the police. The underwriter, who was a little theatrical anyway, then went through a month of fear when he found out that the policy belonged to a local crime boss. Convinced that he was going to be visited by thugs at night, he asked the agent how the guy was taking it. The answer was, he didn't care much. He ended up going from one insurance company to the next, being cancelled over time for one reason or another--always finding a new company who'd write some sort of policy for him.
Maybe for some people, "small bullet holes" are less of an unusual event.
