Default Radiator Cleaning

Today I noticed my car was running kind of hot, especially since the outside temps on the way to work and home were in the high 60's. Immediately upon arriving home, I decided to vaccum out the radiator cubby hole. The amount of debri was significant, however, the piece of debri that really caught my attention was a dried out frog carcus.

Ewwwww - reminds me of the time my wife found a squished bird carcass in the wheel of her Boxster!

It had tried to fly through the wheel at speed, and had splattered inside the alloy itself - then dried out and ben covered in brake dust.

Yuck!

(just cleaned my '02 Boxster's radiator ducts out a couple of weeks ago) but amount of stuff between A/C condensor and radiator which vacuuming from outside will not remove even more impressive.

On one side lot of plant debris. On other side alot of sand/gravel. Both had among other things ciggie butts, leaves, twigs, scraps of paper, dead insects, parts of insects, and stuff I don't want to know what it was...

Nasty stuff.

After buttoning up front bumper (had to remove front bumper to unbolt and swing A/C condensors aside to clean between them and radiators) rinsed area out with no spot spray at local car wash. The smell and color of the water that drained out... Oh my.

Several rinses later water clear.

Don't believe made any difference in cooling, these cars have much cooling margin, but it just feels better knowing that trash out of there. Besides trash can collect moisture and with time can result in corrosion of these very expensive A/C condensors and radiators from the outside as well.

Sincerely,

Macster.

If they were that dirty...you really should pull the front bumper and A/C condencers off of the radiators to clean everything out.

Hey juankimalo, that looks like a great DIY. Any chance you might have an English language version?

Awe man, don't say that! In my situation, the were leaves attatched and blocking the radiators. The next day I drove the car the temps came back down to normal.

Is there any interest locally to come by my house and have a remove your/my front bumper meet. I hate doing body work.
