Gumball 3000 Rally
#16
Maximillion Cooper started it back 99 or 00. One of the first was across the united states. Year after year the rally becomes bigger and bigger and travel the planet. The fee includes all hotels special events throughout the rally, air transportation for the car and occupants etc. If I remember correctly, they had a party at the playboy mansion during one of the rally.
At first anybody with cash could attend the rally but now it's more of who knows who and what kind of car you're driving. Either you have the most expensive impossible exotic car or camo 360 spyder.

Actually I saw plenty of beater Porsches at the event last night, there was one 996 rally car that looked exactly like my beater 996 same color combo and everything. There were also lots of "cheaper" cars.
I heard that the next year's rally would start from the Playboy mansion....

I am sure there are quit of few of trust fund babies in the rally, but there are also many self made individual who just wants to have some fun. At every stop of the rally, there usually is a track reserved for everyone to track their car on the track.

Oh, Max Cooper, so you know it's for people of high moral constitutions. Isn't that the same oxygen thief who claims to spread computer viruses and does in fact spam mail people''s private message boxes on car forums?

<saw> 1/2 price version start up... can we get the fee a BIT lower?
I am IN !!
<no nose picking though...too hard to drive that way>
As for the poor people who died, I am sorry....however people die in car related accidents with or without this race..
I feel sorry for them, I am not heartless, its just a fact.

I wish I got the cash I would join....besides a couple of ******** (and you don't need to be rich to be an *******!!) most of them must be so much fun..I have seen clips of the race on tv...and they are having a blast!! Must be nice to be rich!!!

I just happen to currently be reading The Driver, by Alexander Roy (on the bookshelves at Barnes & Noble). He chronicals the life of the regular rally folks who attend these events over and over, as he seeks to find the mastermind and creator of original outlaw high speed run filmed in the short Rendezvous. Fun reading, actually. Lots of fun stuff about the Gumball Rallies through 2006, and then history of the legends of this "sport" going back to the first Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash created in the early 70's by Brock Yates.

DanJk- You speak the truth. My father and I seriously considered running in one. After meeting some of the participants and the organizers and realizing their level of responsibility we decided not to. The event should have been banned after the recent deaths.
