25 years after I got hooked I'm finally getting my Porsche
On the bus ride to school everyday there was a yellow 914 we'd pass. I think that's what started my love for porsches. I've wanted one ever since then. But life gets in the way. I get married, have to buy a house. have a kid, a second kid, need a bigger house, a third kid need an even bigger house....
Then at a party this summer a friend pulls up in his 2008 C4S Cab he just bought. ***.
Well this week I should be taking delievery of my first porsche. A 2002 Meteor Gray C4 Cab hardtop with 50k miles. It's not the ideal porsche that I was looking for but I think it's a decent deal at $38.9k
I'm going to have TPC do a PPI for me since they are only 3 miles from where I am buying it.
The garage is all cleaned out, I even mopped the floor!!

My prior ideal was a 993 cab but as they are getting older I had some reliability concerns. I still love the 993's and have 2 more garage bays so who knows, maybe still one day. =)
For the past few years its morphed into a 2005+ C2S Cab. But this one came up and I figured it looked like a good deal. I really wasn't looking for a C4, worried that it's too forgiving to drive, sucking some fun out of it in the process =).
Don't think I'll have a use for the hardtop though. I don't know, maybe it'll help in resale later.

good for you!!
I too waited 25 years for the same reasons but boy does it ever make it that much sweeter when you finally put your butt into the seat, gently put both hands on the steering wheel and realize that it is really (and finally!) your car.
For the first month I would go to my garage and just look at it several times a day. ( I know some people here will think that is weird but the feeling was so overwhelming after having waited so long).
Let us know how many times you run out for milk at the corner store in the first few weeks!

Not weird at all. Nine consecutive years of ownership thru 3 Pcars and I still actively admire it. I have owned many hot cars in the past but this is the first one I haven't tired of.

My only question is should I get the Extended Warranty (Carmax)
3 years -> $1600
4 years -> $2000
5 years -> $2600
The car is still under the Porsche Certified Warranty (Not transferable to me since it's not person to person =( ). So I would think that any major problems would have already been addressed.
This is going to be a weekend/summer driver. My other ride being a Toyota Minivan!

I bought my first Porsche, a Boxster, from CarMax several years ago. I purchased the extended warranty and was extremely pleased with it. I just got rid of my 02 911 (replaced it with an 08 C4) that had the CPO warranty - it was nowhere near as good as the CarMax warranty. For peace of mind, I would definitely get the warranty. Good thing about it, is if you sell the car, the warranty is transferable and refundable.
