SharkWerks Single Mass Light Weight Flywheel Demo Video
Hey folks,
We recently installed the lightweight flywheel kit (single mass, 14 lbs.) into another 997.
To give you an idea of how it changes the car, we made a short video showing before and after the installation. You can watch the video here:

The car already had an IPD plenum and EVOMS V-flow intake installed. The only change for the video was the lightweight flywheel.

there is some transmission noise for _sure_ . We always show folks what it's basically like by demo'ing either the shop RS or Cayman first So I'd advise listening to it first. It does so to varying degrees depending upon the car/transmission. 996s are noisier than the 997s.

What am I missing?
I was going to get a lightweight flywheel until I watched the video.
The changes are inentical to those with the EVOMS CAI and IPD Plunum alone. The LFW seems to do nothing but add drivetrain noise.

Also the car already had the plenum/EVO intake in the "before/stock" video and the "LWF".... The only part added between the two was the LWF.

The difference in how much more freely the RPMs rise is worth the "noise" from the loss of dampening in the stock FW, IMO.
Not having to spin that extra weight is a good thing!... and some like the "noise".

When the car is in motion at 'speed', the noise is no longer relevant. If a driver don't mind the squeal of track pads on the street, then a LWFW is not an issue.
Stalling the car at a stoplight because of a LWFW is another story.

Thanks for the response, can you tell me who sells the cup FW/clutch or provide a link? Is it a Porsche MS item? How do you like it? PIA on the street?
I figure that it's a linear thing, ie. the lighter the FW/PP set-up, the more negative side effects. There has to be some happy compromise since the stock one weighs a ton. I would imagine that you can go quite a bit lighter before you lose all of the stored energy that makes stock FWs nice in traffic.
