Car cutting out
I have a 2001 996 C2. I'm tracking my car this weekend and even before I got on the track my car started cutting out. It was like the ignition was shut off, a few seconds later it would kick back in. The fuel tank was 1/2 full. I went and filled it full and it didn't happen again. It was 95 in Pueblo CO where I'm tracking. It was almost like vapor lock. I had just driven 1.5 hours down from Denver with no problems. Any ideas? I hope I don't have to drive the whole weekend with a full tank of gas. Thanks.

Ok, I dug out this old thread with no answers. I have the similar issue, but with a 1/3rd of fuel left in the tank. Engine cuts out for a while until gas flows back from the side of tank on a tight corner.
Bosch 044 pump, Carrera2 flat-bottom tank, turbo's engine.
Has anyone done splash guards or installed bigger fuel tank into a 2WD chassis?? Atually I'd like to have bigger one, because the present tank without splash guards lasts only 6 Nordschleife laps...

I'm wondering if you can hear the pump repressurizing with the fast thumping sound most electric fuel pumps make. Other than that maybe check for errors with something like a Durametric diagnostic machine. I've read some place about the tank lines being touchy about how they are lined up.
