Both the phone and web site are a no-go..

I was looking to get another four-wheel alignment through them.

I think they melted down. I used them for some tire mounting and balancing last year, and the owner and his partner had recently parted ways. I heard later that they might be gone, and I've been meaning to drive by some day, but I guess I don't need to bother now.

Too bad, I was very satisfied with the experience. =(

Went up there a few times, once was Dec '04, right after a partner swap. They had just gotten hired by a car owner to provide a driver and team support for a big race somewhere. It's a shame, clean classy joint with a wide skillset... now I'm really curious.

Hey Guys... I know one of the techs at MoM when they were in business. MoM is closed down, however, my tech friend is opening a shop of his own in the greater SD area. The last time I talked to him, he was already getting the lifts, etc.

I'll post his info on this thread once he gets back to me RE: address, phone number, etc.

BTW, my friend is Ryan... he's a Porsche factory trained master tech. Knows his stuff.

When did they close, and will Ryan have alignment capability?

Yes, Ryan will have alignment capability. I think he *might* even have corner balancing capability but don't quote me on that. He hasn't responded to my VM yet.

MoM closed down last time I checked. Jae at Mirage International could do it for you. I think it's around $300-350 or so. They're big on 993 and its racing. 858-581-1101. You can try Black Forest, although they refused to do mine last time i asked. They just told me to go down Discount Tires down the block?? dont know if that's true. However, Black Forest is reputable on Porsche... good luck

I've had great luck with Black Forest, though I didn't get a corner balance (since my car can't be corner balanced). They did my last alignment, and I'm very happy with the results so far. They are big into racing/performance, so I'd be surprised if they couldn't satisfy your alignment needs.

You could also try Dieters, downtown San Diego, also a very reputable Porsche shop. Steve Grosskemper is very active in the PCA and highly regarded in the performance driving circles, and if he can't do it he can certainly refer you.

I've never worked with Jae, but I've heard him recommended many times.

I was a partner at Mind preparing in January 2007 to take it over full time (I actually left the corporate world to do just that) and agree it's sad that we closed since the business had tremendous opportunity and was our "collective" dream to boot. Unfortunately, my partner decided he wanted to go another direction in life and so the story goes. I'll save the gory details but will confirm also that Ryan our old tech is very much in the game and is supporting many of our old customers from a new shared facility and at the customer's own home. He's a great tech, give him a call 949-683-8300 mention my name too.

Thanks Jordan, I can't put a face on Ryan but I will definately give him a call.

Agreed, it looked like a smart business plan was hard at work, sorry to hear things ended the way they did.

Post resurrected! Family stuff has eased so now I can get some car stuff taken care of.

Any tips on a good alignment shop?

I did leave a message yesterday for Ryan, Jordan, but no answer yet.

Just FYI, I've had some conversations over on the PCA SDR board (www.pcasdr.org), and Steve Grosekemper noted that it IS possible to corner balance a stock 996. I'm planning to get my next alignment from him down at Dieter's.

Yeah, things are looking that direction... Spoke with Arnee and it seems Ryan is a bit tough to get a hold of these days. I even started a 928 <nomex on> thread to find a good shop.

Thanks!
