Default Tighten engine compartment release cable

Does anyone know how to do that? I have to wedge a plastic bottle under the release lever to open the engine compartment....

You mean you have to pull the lever and then wedge a bottle under there to keep it from re-latching before you can lift the lid? If so, I think the problem is going to be solved by seeing what is going on with the latch in the engine compartment because it probably needs lubrication or alignment.

Doug,

Its really loose when I pick and fuss with the cable. So loose that I am surprised that it even releases the latch at all.

Which cable in the engine compartment seems loose? The shiny unsheathed cable or the black sheathed cable? The unsheathed cable is the emergency release and is normally slack.

Chao,
open the engine lid and loosen (2 bolts) and move the latch mechanism up. This should help a little, also play with the stops (by turning it) at the 2 corners of the lid. GL.

That is what I had to do on mine also.

Cory/Redridge,

I just bought replacement stops. Do you just pull the old ones out with a pair of pliers?

The stops... we're talking about the pegs on the corners... right? Those are screwed on. Just unscrew them to take them off... no tools needed.

Got it replaced last night. The pegs were stuck and I had to use a pair of pliers to coax it out.

Thanks Redridge.
