Default sunroof rattles sometimes. advice

Hi,

Do any of the owners have an issue with the sunroof. Mine will rattle once in a while so I usually just keep it up while driving. Wondering if there is a quick fix like tightening of a bolt, etc?... Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this will help, as there are a few sources of sunroof rattle.

I had a bad rattle when the sunroof was open (not tilted). I found that if I put my hand a few inches behind the sunroof on the headliner it would stop. There is a stiffener or something at that point (easy to feel). It was unclipped on one end and hit the sunroof when open. It was a quick and easy fix at the dealer, as there was a partial headliner removal required and I was not up for that.

There is a TSB available at RennTech about sunroof noises, you have to be a member to access, but it's worth it.

I don't have a rattle, but at low speeds (15 mph) I have a rumble that almost sounds like a sub woofer. It is fine at higher speeds or even Highway???

That, unfortunately, is normal. Have to drop a side window a bit . . .

alx_carrera... I had a similar problem. Rattle coming from behind me which made me think it was coming from the rear window or rear side window. However, when I pressed my hand on the sunroof the rattle went away.

I took it in to the dealer and after diagnostics they found that it was some type of rail that was loose/broken. It cost $500 something to fix it.... I can take a look at the paperwork and give you the exact description of the problem tonight if you want to.
