For anyone on the fence about upgrading to an aftermarket exhaust, just do it.
The installation took about 2.5 hours, had one unrelated glitch (A South Florida-only scenario), and now the sound is pure loveliness.

It's a Gemballa exhaust, with their tips. I knew the sound was going to be better, but I was amazed by how much of a difference there is in terms of looks going from the OEM tips to the Gemballa tips.
I'll post a before.after video/sound clip tonight.

The sound is awesome. I can't wait to cruise through the New River Tunnel for the echo effect.
I'll see if I can't figure out how to post it tonight. My only "complaint" (and it's not a real one) is that the Gemballa tips "GEMBALLA" but they're shorter than the OEM tips, so while *I* know they say Gemballa, you'd have to lean waaaay down to see it.
It's definitely a low-profile bling thing. They really give the car a more serious look and somehow make the rear tires look better, but are they worth the extra $375? probably not.

That's exactly why I went with the PSE and switchability. I often leave home early (4 - 5 AM), and don't wish to be known as "the jerk with the noisy Porsche".

We have 5 996s within a 4 block radius - nobody complains about the sound except the weenie with a Prius.
The sound is actually pretty mellow until you get on it, so I am not waking anyone up. On I-95, it's another story.
I have a sound clip but I'm having technical difficulties getting it to load. Stand by...

The video sucks. The WereWife was afraid I was going to run her over, so she kept flinching. As if. Running her over might scratch the paint and I like that camera. It looks like a video of an earthquake.
The car is now in the shop getting the nose repainted. I'll re-video it when I get it back.

The Glitch was a freaking falling palm frond that scratched the snout. I needed to get the nose repainted anyway to cure the rock chip freckles, but I was still pissed off.
That palm tree is going down.
