Question C4S - Front Differential Removal DIY

Hi all,
well, I've searched the archives and I can't find a DIY related to removing the front differential on a C4S. I have a "grinding" noise that I've localised to the differential and my local mechanic has confirmed that it is indeed something internal to the differential but he wants big bucks to remove it to find the source of the problem. I'd rather do this myself (because I'm cheap ) so can anyone point me to a DIY on how to remove it?
Thanks, Ron

Search in the 996 turbo forum for either 2WD conversion or GT2 conversion

You can remove the driveshaft first and see how you like it. Driveshaft removal will only take about 30 mins and require no other modification.

If you like it, you can then continue to remove the front diff and components.

I removed the driveshaft and PSM was interrupting way too soon and too many times. In fact, I felt as if I could have taken the corners faster with AWD even with PSM instead of RWD w/ an PSM that is programmed for AWD.

You can turn PSM off and THAT is complete fun.

Finally, someone with "a pair" to do this. Let us know how different the car experience is.

I put my driveshaft back on. PSM was interfering way too much. If I installed an LSD, I'm sure PSM wouldn't interfere as much.

That would work, if it is possible.
