Default Bought my first 911!

Hopefully not the last! Saturday I picked up a '99 C2 with 36K miles. She has full service records since birth from Rietzl Porsche and a recently replaced clutch. Paid $25,500 to a dealer in Boston. I am pretty happy with the deal. She is really clean for a 10-year old car. Not many options on her though.

I decided against the C4, partially because everyone's thoughts in the C2/C4 snowboarding thread and my own fears of weight and drivetrain loss. I and am SUPER EXCITED about getting involved in the PCA's Northeast DE days. Just sent in my PCA membership. Next is Rennlist.

I had a PPI performed at EPE in Natick, MA. They did a good job, although Jerry seemed pretty anti-996. He went so far as to say he would never own one because Porsche doesn't support M96 engine rebuilds and that the doom and gloom engine stories are true. He also said that the car checked out despite needing some maintenance (rotors, sway bar drop links, front tires).

So, I'm getting ready for my first take-apart-my-911 weekend as I replace the rotors and drop links and change the oil. After that a fire extinguisher goes in and the stereo gets replaced.

Seems like a terrific price, low mileage for a 99, and very clean looking. Welcome to a knowledgable forum.

Welcome, to you and your beautiful car. Your excitement brings back the day I drove mine off the lot!

Don't feel bad about having a lightly optioned car. It has its charms, too.

I'm trying to order rotors for this thing, and around this forum I hear people saying that the stock drilled rotors are a no-go for track use due to heat concerns, an that vented or solid discs are preferred. Can anyone recommend some good street/track rotors?

The stock rotors are not drilled, the holes are cast, so there is no cracking issue. That said, slotted rotors will give you more pad to rotor contact surface area, so you should get better stopping. Hadn''t heard about any heat issues.
